Alhind Group, a prominent Indian travel and tourism specialist, is seeking an air operator’s permit (AOP) from India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for its new airline venture, according to PV Valsaraj, the group’s managing director.

Valsaraj revealed that the company is 95% through the approval process, including security clearances, and is now awaiting final approvals, including a No Objection Certificate from the Civil Aviation Ministry. The airline is expected to focus on international routes to the Middle East and Southeast Asia, including destinations like Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia.

With over 60% of its ticketing business directed towards the Gulf and Far East, Alhind Group aims to leverage its established sales network to ensure a successful launch. Valsaraj highlighted that the company’s extensive market knowledge and existing network will provide a competitive edge in route planning and profitability.

Alhind Group, established in Kerala in 1992, operates under various brands, including Alhind & Middle East Travels in the Gulf. Its diverse portfolio includes flight and accommodation bookings, financial services, package tours, and more. The group reported a turnover of INR 200 billion (USD 2.38 billion) in 2023.

Additionally, Air Kerala (Kochi International) is set to launch in 2025 with three ATR72-600s for regional commuter services, having recently obtained an NOC from the Civil Aviation Ministry.
