This partnership, approved by Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) for Anti-Trust Immunity (ATI), will enhance flight options and connectivity between the two countries.

Under this agreement, JAL and Garuda Indonesia will offer more flight choices, an expanded network, and improved connections on both domestic and international routes. Customers will also benefit from an enhanced frequent flyer program, providing greater rewards for loyal passengers. JAL currently operates daily flights between Tokyo Narita (NRT) and Jakarta (CGK), with six additional weekly flights. Garuda offers twice-daily flights between Jakarta and Tokyo Haneda (HND).

He also noted that regulatory compliance will be a key focus as the partnership deepens, ensuring smooth cooperation across commercial activities.

Garuda Indonesia, a SkyTeam Alliance member and Indonesia’s flag carrier, serves 35 domestic destinations and 15 international routes. JAL, a member of the Oneworld Alliance, operates a fleet of 227 aircraft and is expanding its international network with the Airbus A350-1000.
