Jamaica is on the brink of a significant tourism expansion, as revealed at the World Travel Market (WTM) in London. The island nation is gearing up for the development of a new 1,000-room luxury mega-resort by international hotel group Lopesan. The announcement was made by Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett, and his team.

While specific details about the resort are still under wraps, Minister Bartlett emphasized the project’s potential to create over 2,500 direct and indirect jobs. The resort is expected to have a positive ripple effect across various sectors, benefiting farmers, manufacturers, small businesses, and other local stakeholders. Lopesan’s interest in Jamaica expands its already impressive portfolio of more than 17,000 hotel rooms spread across Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean.

This announcement aligns with Jamaica’s continuous efforts to enhance its tourism offerings. The upcoming official opening of the $30 million renovated Royalton White Sands resort in Trelawny next month marks another significant milestone. Additionally, the island anticipates the launch of two major resorts before the summer of 2024. The Princess Resort in Hanover will introduce 1,000 new rooms, and the RIU Palace Aquarelle resort in Trelawny will add 753 rooms, collectively creating approximately 2,500 new jobs.

For travelers and industry watchers eagerly awaiting updates on these developments, VisitJamaica.com will offer the latest information on new accommodations and tourism initiatives on the island. Jamaica’s strategic investments in large-scale luxury resorts are set to bolster its position as a leading destination in the Caribbean, offering diverse and upscale experiences to global visitors.
