The Japanese LCC Peach Aviation has announced that it will start offering free coronavirus testing. The program will begin next week and continue until the end of March.

Free of charge polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests will be available for passengers ahead of domestic flights from Kansai and Narita international airports between 21 February and 31 March. The kit will be sent to passengers in advance to make sure they head to the airport only if the test result is negative. After collecting saliva with the test kit, passengers will have to send it back to the company up to three days before they are scheduled to fly and wait for the result, which they will receive via email.

“We’d like to guarantee that our flights are safe and strive to revitalize regional economies,” Peach Aviation’s representative stated.

The persisting coronavirus pandemic has caused multiple cuts to flight schedules, but Peach Aviation has created this scheme to enhance passengers’ safety and promote travel demand.
