JetBlue orders an additional 30 Airbus A220-300s
JetBlue has added another 30 Airbus A220-300s to its order book, exercising options that were included in a previous order. That brings its total firm commitment for the plane to 100 units, including those already delivered to the airline.
The first order from JetBlue was back in 2018, when it ordered a firm 60 with options for 60 more. Of those options, 10 were converted in 2019. Now, the airline is coming back for more only just over a year after taking its first delivery of the type. Clearly, it’s impressed with the performance of its A220s so far.
For JetBlue, the A220 is proving to be a worthy replacement for its Embraer E190s. To date, eight A220s have arrived with the airline, with the first entering passenger service in late April 2021. Just three Embraers have left the fleet to date, but more will follow. simpleflying.com
