JSX, renowned as the world’s only 5-star premium regional air carrier, has announced a groundbreaking move in the aviation industry with its intent to acquire up to 332 hybrid-electric aircraft. This acquisition, which includes orders from Electra, Aura Aero, and Heart Aerospace, positions JSX as a forerunner in sustainable air travel and promises to revolutionize regional transportation in North America.

Under the terms of the agreement, JSX has signed Letters of Intent for up to 82 Electra eSTOL aircraft (32 firm orders and 50 options), up to 150 Aura Aero Era aircraft (50 firm orders and 100 options), and up to 100 Heart Aerospace ES-30 aircraft (50 firm orders and 50 options).

This acquisition aligns with the Biden administration’s recent call for the aviation industry to reduce carbon emissions and supports the creation of more good-paying U.S. jobs. JSX expects to begin receiving these hybrid-electric aircraft starting in 2028, marking a significant step in sustainable regional aviation.

The diverse fleet selection will serve JSX’s Part 135 and Part 380 Public Charter operations, enabling service to thousands of federally funded airports, many of which are currently inaccessible to larger commercial airlines. The Electra eSTOL, capable of carrying 9 passengers with a range of up to 500 nautical miles, is uniquely designed for short takeoffs and landings in less than 150 feet.

The Aura Aero Era, a 19-seat aircraft, offers a range of up to 900 nautical miles, ideal for regional travel. Lastly, the Heart Aerospace ES-30, a 30-seat airplane, provides low-emission, low-noise, and cost-effective options for short-haul routes with up to 500 miles range.

This move by JSX not only supports the company’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions but also aims to connect underserved communities, stimulating local economies and enhancing regional mobility. The acquisition is a testament to JSX’s innovative approach in the aviation sector, including its distinction as the global launch customer for SpaceX’s Starlink inflight Wi-Fi.
