Kenya Airways Enhances Cargo Capacity with Delivery of First 737-800F

Kenya Airways (KQ) has achieved a significant milestone with the delivery of its inaugural Boeing 737-800F Freighter, marking the airline’s foray into dedicated cargo operations. Plans are underway to bolster the cargo fleet further, with a second 737-800F anticipated to join the fleet by February 2024.

CEO and Group Managing Director Allan Kilavuka expressed enthusiasm about the new addition, emphasizing its role in augmenting cargo capacity on existing routes and facilitating access to new cargo destinations. The airline encourages market participants to leverage the expanded cargo provision, tapping into trade opportunities and unlocking the region’s economic potential.

While the specific identity of the delivered aircraft remains undisclosed, Kenya Airways has outlined its strategic vision to deploy these B737-800 freighters on key routes. Destinations in the lineup include Sharjah, Dubai World Central, Jeddah, Riyadh, Dakar Blaise Diagne International, Lagos, N’Djamena, Mogadishu, Mumbai International, Freetown, and Monrovia Roberts.

This initiative aligns with Kenya Airways’ broader strategy to enhance its cargo capabilities and meet growing demand for airfreight services. The introduction of the 737-800F complements the carrier’s existing fleet of 737-300SF freighters, underscoring its commitment to fostering a robust and diversified cargo network.
