Kingsford aims to elevate Black BBQ professionals

Kingsford, the US based charcoal company, is kicking off “Preserve the Pit,” an initiative that will give up-and-coming Black barbeque connoisseurs an opportunity to connect and learn from established pitmasters, as well as a chance to receive capital for their business. “We want to see this barbecue tradition uplifted, celebrated and become more of a central piece in the African-American community,” says barbecue historian and program mentor Howard Conyers.
