Korean Air is excited to announce the return of its “Parents Invitation Program,” offering employees’ parents an immersive glimpse into the aviation industry and their children’s roles within the company. This program, which had been on hiatus for five years, kicked off on September 27, 2024, and will run for three months, providing a unique opportunity for families to connect with the airline’s operations.

The inaugural session took place at Korean Air’s headquarters in the Gangseo District of Seoul, drawing approximately 60 participants, including employees and their parents. Attendees enjoyed guided tours of key facilities, including the Operations & Customer Center (OCC), the Aviation Medical Center, the Flight Training Center, and the in-house hangar. These tours are designed to give parents firsthand experience of the environments in which their adult children work, fostering a deeper understanding of the airline’s operations.

A highlight of the Parents Invitation Program was the visit to the Flight Training Center, where participants had the chance to engage with the Flight Training Device (FTD), an advanced pilot training simulator. Parents were able to operate cockpit controls, providing them with insights into the complexities of aircraft operation and the skills required to become a pilot.

Donghyeok Shin, Corporate Communications Manager at Korean Air, emphasized the program’s significance, stating, “The program represents a step in our ongoing efforts to foster a strong, interconnected Korean Air community and strengthen our corporate culture. By inviting our employees’ parents to experience our operations firsthand, we hope to build trust, express gratitude, and instill a sense of pride in our extended Korean Air family.”

Korean Air’s commitment to employee engagement and corporate social responsibility is reflected in this initiative. The airline believes that involving employees’ families in its operations not only enhances workplace culture but also strengthens the bonds within the Korean Air community. In addition to the Parents Invitation Program, the airline offers various family-oriented initiatives, such as Family Day events, enrollment gifts for children entering elementary school, and orientation sessions for college-bound students.

This renewed program not only allows parents to gain a deeper appreciation of their children’s professional environment but also serves to enhance employee morale. By bridging the gap between work and home life, Korean Air aims to create a supportive atmosphere that benefits employees and their families alike.

As the program unfolds over the next three months, more sessions are planned, allowing additional families to participate in this enriching experience. Korean Air is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive corporate culture, recognizing the vital role that family plays in the lives of its employees.

Through initiatives like the Parents Invitation Program, Korean Air continues to demonstrate its commitment to building a strong community and enhancing employee engagement. This program not only showcases the airline’s operations but also reinforces the importance of family in the workplace, ensuring that employees feel valued and supported in their careers. As the airline looks to the future, it remains focused on nurturing a culture of trust, pride, and connection within its workforce.
