Leisure flyers seek out premium seating

Leisure travelers are buying more premium seating, airline executives report, with Delta Air Lines leader Glen Hauenstein saying that “The big epiphany for us was there’s a much broader demand for this than just business travelers.” John Heimlich, chief economist at Airlines for America, explained that the availability of premium seating options has increased as carriers introduced additional widebody aircraft with premium economy cabins, as well as business-class seats that lie flat, even for domestic routes.
