Miami International Airport (MIA) recently celebrated the introduction of LEVEL’s new service to Barcelona, marking a significant addition to its international route offerings. This launch event, held on April 3, 2024, not only underscored Miami as LEVEL’s fifth destination in the United States but also highlighted its unique position as the airline’s sole route in Florida. The celebration was marked with vibrancy, featuring the unveiling of “Crossroads,” a captivating large-scale painting by renowned Miami graffiti artist Quake, which commemorates this new connection between Miami and Barcelona.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava expressed her enthusiasm for this new service, noting the rich cultural, artistic, and historical parallels between Barcelona and Miami. These two coastal communities, now linked by LEVEL’s flights, offer residents and travelers alike another convenient travel option between these popular destinations.

LEVEL, a Barcelona-based long-haul carrier within the International Airlines Group (IAG) since 2017, kicked off this service with three weekly flights, with plans to expand to four weekly flights during the summer months from June to September. This route not only strengthens the tourism bond between the two cities but also opens up new avenues for investment and business opportunities.

Spain, as MIA’s eighth busiest international market in 2023, accounted for over 913,000 passengers, underscoring the significance of this new service. Ricard Falomir, LEVEL’s Chief Digital and Operations Officer, highlighted the success of the inaugural service and its year-round commitment to connecting these two vital intercontinental hubs.

The event also served as a platform to showcase the global prominence of Barcelona and Miami-Dade County as centers for graffiti art through Quake’s artwork “Crossroads.” The piece, which will be displayed temporarily in MIA’s Concourse F, reflects the dynamic cultural exchange and artistic vibrancy of both cities. This initiative, supported by the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau and Goldman Global Arts, also included special postcard-sized versions of “Crossroads” for LEVEL’s inaugural passengers, further celebrating the launch.

Barcelona, known for its cosmopolitan allure, rich gastronomy, and the iconic works of Gaudi, along with its spectacular beaches, stands as a testament to the diverse experiences awaiting travelers from Miami and beyond. This new route by LEVEL is a testament to the growing connectivity and cultural exchange between these two vibrant cities.
