Lodging tax hike urged for new Tennessee Titans stadium

A proposal in the state legislature would allow the city of Nashville, Tenn., to raise its hotel-motel tax to cover some of the cost of a new stadium for the Tennessee Titans pro football team. A legislative committee estimated that raising the current 6% tax to 7% probably would boost revenue by $10 million annually, while the local tourism leader put the figure at nearly $20 million.
