LOT Polish Airlines is set to expand its fleet by leasing an additional four Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft from two reputable lessors, Phoenix Aviation and AIP Capital. This strategic move aims to bolster the Warsaw-based carrier’s short to medium-haul operations, allowing it to increase frequencies on existing routes and add new destinations across Europe and beyond.

According to a statement from LOT Polish Airlines, this leasing agreement reflects both Phoenix Aviation and AIP Capital’s commitment to providing flexible solutions for airline customers, as well as LOT’s objective to enhance its operational capabilities. The addition of these modern aircraft will play a crucial role in supporting the airline’s network expansion and improving overall service offerings.

Mathew Adamo, Managing Partner at AIP Capital, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are excited to have concluded this transaction with LOT Polish Airlines. We look forward to expanding our relationship and continuing to support LOT in managing their fleet.” This collaboration highlights the strong relationship between the lessors and the airline, fostering a conducive environment for growth and innovation.

Maciej Dziudzik, LOT Polish Airlines Fleet Bureau Director, emphasized the significance of this transaction, noting, “We welcome AIP Capital as our next business partner in the aircraft leasing space. Modern, next-generation narrowbody aircraft are an important element of our growth strategy for the following years. We are committed to providing our existing passengers and the general public with improved connectivity opportunities in Central Europe, whether traveling for business or leisure.”

With the addition of these four Boeing 737 MAX 8s, LOT Polish Airlines will enhance its current fleet of 83 aircraft, which serves 98 routes to 89 destinations across 50 countries. The airline’s diverse fleet includes long-haul destinations in the United States, Canada, China, Japan, and South Korea, as well as a mix of wide and narrowbody jets, including 13 Boeing 737 MAX 8s, six Boeing 737-800s, 15 Boeing 787s, 46 Embraer ERJ170/190s, and a single DHC-8-Q400, along with some wet-leased aircraft.

LOT Polish Airlines has been steadily increasing its flight offerings in recent years, despite facing stiff competition from low-cost carriers like Ryanair and Wizz Air. In a report from August 2024, AeroTime revealed that the airline plans to lease an additional three Boeing 737 MAX 8s from lessor BOC Capital, further solidifying its growth strategy.

Phoenix Aviation Capital, based in Dublin, is a full-service aircraft lessor focused on financing modern, in-demand aircraft, catering to the financing needs of airline customers worldwide. Managed by AIP Capital, a global aviation asset management and investment firm, Phoenix Aviation Capital is well-positioned to support LOT Polish Airlines in achieving its ambitious expansion goals.

As LOT Polish Airlines continues to enhance its fleet and expand its route network, the airline is poised to provide passengers with increased connectivity and improved travel experiences. This strategic investment in modern aircraft underscores LOT’s commitment to maintaining its competitive edge in the dynamic aviation market while meeting the growing demand for air travel across Europe and beyond.
