Malaysia Airlines Resumes Kuala Lumpur-Paris Route

Malaysia Airlines is set to revive its Kuala Lumpur to Paris service in March 2025, a welcome return after a nine-year break. The reinstated route is a part of the airline’s strategic expansion into the European market. Starting on March 22, the airline will operate four weekly flights, escalating to a daily service by March 29. This reintroduction positions Paris as Malaysia Airlines’ second European destination alongside London.

Utilizing the Airbus A350-900, the airline will operate from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG). Paris was selected over other contenders like Amsterdam due to better slot availability, allowing for increased feeder traffic from regions such as Eastern Europe, North Africa, and potentially South America. This broader connectivity complements the airline’s existing operations to London.

Operating out of CDG’s Terminal 1, separate from its Oneworld alliance partners in Terminal 2A, Malaysia Airlines is keen on facilitating smooth transfers for connecting passengers. Additionally, it is exploring potential collaboration opportunities with Air France-KLM, leveraging Oneworld’s flexible partnership models.

The A350-900 aircraft designated for the Paris flights will be reallocated from routes to Doha and Tokyo Narita, which will soon be serviced by the newly incoming A330neos. While there are no immediate plans to expand further into Europe in 2025, the revival of the Kuala Lumpur-Paris route is a critical step in strengthening Malaysia Airlines’ long-haul network and enhancing its presence in the European market.
