Malaysia Aviation Group’s Managing Director, Datuk Captain Izham bin Ismail, is set to be a keynote speaker at the Routes Asia 2024 conference. This marks a significant participation, as Izham has been instrumental in steering Malaysia Airlines through the turbulence of the COVID-19 crisis, leading to a successful financial and operational rebound.

Under Izham’s leadership, Malaysia Airlines is now focusing on enhancing customer experiences and expanding its fleet and network. A notable step in this direction is the acquisition of the Boeing 737 MAX, with the first of these leased aircraft having joined the fleet in November 2023. Additionally, the airline is gearing up for a major narrowbody order, planning to issue a request for proposals in the first quarter of 2024.

The growth strategy also encompasses upgrades to the widebody fleet. In a significant move, Malaysia Airlines is set to welcome its first Airbus A330neo in September 2024. Attendees of the Routes Asia 2024 conference will have the opportunity to gain insights directly from Datuk Capt Izham Ismail about the airline’s recovery journey and its strategic plans for future growth.
