Moldova Halts Operations of Three Companies Linked to Airplane-Parts Sales to Russia

Moldova has temporarily halted the operations of three companies involved in brokering airplane-parts sales to Russia. The decision, announced after an August 7 meeting led by Prime Minister Dorin Recean, affects Airrock Solutions, Aerostage Services, and Maxjet Service.

This action follows a February investigation by RFE/RL’s Moldovan Service, which revealed that these companies facilitated over $15 million in airplane-parts transactions with Russian entities during 2022-23. While these transactions did not contravene Moldovan law, they occurred after the European Union imposed sanctions on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
