It’s like a domino effect.

As Myrtle Beach, South Carolina continues to grow with tourists, infrastructure needs to grow with it.

This includes the airport and its increasing number of tourists.

That’s why the airport announced it will add six more gates. That will bring the total number to 18 gates at the airport for the popular destination for golf and the beach.

“As you know, post-pandemic, Myrtle Beach has grown astronomically,” said Judi Olmstead, Horry County director of airports. “We outpaced the national rate post-pandemic so we are very anxious to add on six more gates on the west side of Concourse A.”

In addition to golf and the beach, Myrtle Beach draws an enormous amount of spring breakers. According to statistics, a record amount of travelers pass through the airport last year. The total was almost 3.5 million travelers.
