Naked mole rat communities have their own dialects

Naked mole rats have dialects unique to their communities and don’t take too kindly to mole rats from other colonies that don’t speak the same language, killing interlopers, according to findings reported in Science. Researchers say the distinct vocalizations help strengthen bonds within each colony, but also plays into each colony’s xenophobia.
