Nepal Airlines (RA, Kathmandu) has announced a tender for the sale of a single Rolls-Royce RB211-535E4, msn 30598, which used to power its retired B757-200 9N-ACA (msn 23850). The Nepalese carrier has set the minimum price for the engine at USD3.335 million. The powerplant is sold on an “as is, where is” basis, with bids due by May 16, 2021. The engine has accumulated 26,337 cycles and 73,727 flight hours since new. It is currently stored at Iberia’s maintenance facility at Madrid Barajas airport and available for inspection there. The carrier is also selling a B757 Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) Honeywell GTCP331-200ER with a minimum price of USD61,500 and an assortment of spare parts for the engine and the APU unit in two lots with minimum prices of USD82,474 and USD355,831, respectively. Except for the engine, all other units are located at Kathmandu airport and available for viewing there. 9N-ACA was retired by Nepal Airlines in 2016 and has been scrapped since then, the ch-aviation fleets advanced module indicates. The tender is unrelated to the ongoing sale of another B757 operated in the past by the airline, B757-200(C) 9N-ACB (msn 23863). The aircraft was retired in 2018 and is equipped with the same type of engines but has been tentatively sold together with the powerplants to US-based aircraft trader CSDS Aircraft Sales and Leasing. The transaction was announced before the COVID-19 pandemic and has yet to be formalised. However, the airline said that the parties would do it as soon as circumstances permit a visit for the buyer’s representatives in Nepal.
