Shivam Air (Kathmandu) has been granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) by the Nepali Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, paving the way for the start-up to begin its certification drive.

“Shivam Airlines has received permission from the ministry to fly to remote destinations, now it will be able to operate regular flights based in the western region,” Buddhisagar Lamichhane, joint secretary at the ministry, told Tourism Mail.

Founder Dinesh Acharya said that the start-up has a paid-up capital of NPR150 million rupees (USD1.24 million) as per government requirements and plans to launch with three aircraft, either DHC-6-400s or Let 410s. Shivam Airlines will fly, he added, from Pokhara to Jomsom, from Nepalgunj to Simikot in Humla, and from Kathmandu to Jumla and Lukla as well as other remote destinations.
