New variant spurs restrictions on travel from South Africa

Discovery of a new COVID-19 variant in southern Africa has spurred multiple countries to restrict travel from the region, including the US, which will bar anyone but American citizens from flying from South Africa and seven other nations starting today. United Airlines and Delta Air Lines, the only US airlines that currently operate direct flights to South Africa, have not changed their schedules.
