Norse Atlantic Airways, the Scandinavian airline known for its transatlantic operations, will station a Boeing 787 aircraft at Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) for the upcoming winter season 2024-25. This move comes as part of a strategic agreement with Italian carrier Neos, aimed at expanding Neos’s long-haul offerings.

From December 18 to April 1, 2025, Norse Atlantic Airways will operate multiple long-haul routes on behalf of Neos, connecting Milan Malpensa with key destinations including Mombasa, Kenya; Montego Bay, Jamaica; and Zanzibar.

Bjorn Tore Larsen, CEO and founder of Norse Atlantic Airways, highlighted the significance of the partnership: “This agreement covers a substantial number of flying hours during the winter season. We have built a strong partnership with Neos, underpinned by the quality and reliability of our charter and ACMI capabilities.”

Norse Atlantic Airways will operate weekly flights from Milan Malpensa to Dubai, La Romana, Madagascar, Mombasa, and Montego Bay. Additionally, the airline will operate flights between Rome Fiumicino and Madagascar on behalf of Neos.

“A new aircraft in our fleet will enhance operational stability, ensuring reliable service even during peak seasons,” remarked Aldo Sarnataro, Neos’s Commercial Director.

Known for its seasonal operational strategy, Norse Atlantic Airways focuses on scheduled flights across the North Atlantic during the summer months and transitions to charter services in the winter, specializing in warm-weather destinations.

“We allocate a significant portion of our fleet to ACMI leasing, charter services for tour operators and cruise lines, as well as government and corporate charters,” Larsen explained during a recent financial update.

In addition to its partnership with Neos, Norse Atlantic Airways has expanded its charter operations, including a record 107 charter flights in the first quarter of 2024. Plans for further expansion include new routes to South Africa, with a 3X-weekly service from London Gatwick to Cape Town set to launch on October 28.

Financially robust, Norse Atlantic Airways reported revenues of $78.2 million in the first quarter of 2024, up by 97% year-on-year, with a solid cash position of $33.2 million. The airline has also secured a $20 million revolving credit facility to support its growth initiatives.

As Norse Atlantic Airways continues to strengthen its presence in the charter and ACMI market, the partnership with Neos underscores its commitment to expanding service offerings and maintaining operational excellence in the aviation industry.
