NYC hotel group takes severance pay law to court

The Hotel Association of New York City has filed suit against a new city ordinance requiring hotels either to reopen or pay up to $500 per week in severance to employees laid off during the pandemic. The measure violates state and federal laws, threatens the revival of tourism and will force many hoteliers to abandon the city, the association contends.
