NYC hoteliers lose court battle over severance pay law

A federal judge has rejected a New York City hospitality industry request to suspend enforcement of a city ordinance requiring certain hotels to provide up to 30 weeks of severance pay to some employees. The court said its denial of a preliminary injunction was based on the unlikelihood of the plaintiffs’ success in proving the law unconstitutional and pre-emptive.
