The pandemic allowed for the continuation and acceleration of certain airport improvement projects. “No chance we would have been able to do this” under regular circumstances, said Mark Pearson, vice president of corporate real estate at Delta Air Lines, discussing how the airline was able to speed up renovations at Los Angeles International Airport and New York’s LaGuardia, adding: “You have to find good news wherever you can.” Meanwhile, CEO Ed Bastian thanked customers for “the tremendous support you provided us” through the pandemic by traveling, taking vouchers instead of refunds or just sending messages.
