Passenger Attempts to Open Emergency Door on Korean Air Flight, Tests Positive for Meth
During a Korean Air flight over the Pacific Ocean, a passenger attempted to open the emergency door, leading to her arrest by Incheon International Airport Police Corps. The 26-year-old woman’s actions occurred approximately 10 hours into the 15-hour flight from New York to Incheon, a South Korean city near Seoul.
Witnesses reported that the passenger displayed signs of anxiety during the flight and made multiple attempts to open the emergency door before being restrained by flight attendants. Subsequent drug testing confirmed the presence of methamphetamine in her system.
Despite having spent over six months in New York, the woman had no prior record of mental illness. This incident marks the third instance of passengers attempting to open emergency doors on Korean flights in the current year.
It also follows another recent aviation incident involving an off-duty pilot from Oregon, who, allegedly under the influence of magic mushrooms, attempted to crash a fully loaded plane. Joseph Emerson, facing charges of attempted murder for each of the 83 individuals onboard, believed that crashing the aircraft would snap him out of his drug-induced delusional state.
