Passenger Opens Aircraft Hatch and Jumps off Wing to Evade Pursuing Authorities at MSP Airport

According to reports, a passenger onboard a Sun Country Airlines flight was arrested at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) in the United States (US) after attempting to flee from law enforcement. The incident occurred when the flight arrived from Orlando around 11 PM local time on Sunday, July 9, 2023. The individual hastily exited the aircraft through an emergency hatch before authorities could board.

Witnesses observed the suspect moving onto the wing and subsequently leaping off, making a dash across the tarmac towards the airport terminal. The quick escape was facilitated by the fact that the passenger was reportedly seated in the exit row.

Approximately 45 minutes later, the man was discovered hiding in a LSG Sky Chef truck. Sun Country Airlines promptly alerted airport police, who swiftly responded to the situation. Fortunately, no passengers or crew members were harmed during the incident.

Sun Country Airlines, characterized as a hybrid low-cost air carrier, boasts a fleet of 42 passenger jets and 12 freighter aircraft. With over 118 routes and 94 served airports, the airline operates from its headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
