A passenger at Santiago’s Nuevo Pudahuel Airport unleashed a destructive outburst at an American Airlines counter after discovering he had been sold a fake ticket. The incident, which occurred late Monday, resulted in approximately $20,000 in damages, including several smashed computer and TV screens at the airline’s check-in area.

The Haitian traveler, en route to Miami with plans to continue to Haiti, was filmed by onlookers as he reacted violently upon learning from airline staff that he could not board the flight. The footage shows the man, a construction worker by profession, rifling through his work bag, retrieving a hammer, and then proceeding to destroy the airline’s equipment.

Local authorities quickly intervened, detaining the irate passenger and handing him over to the police. The episode highlights the devastating impact of ticket scams on travelers and the extreme reactions such incidents can provoke.
