Pegasus Airlines, the largest private airline in Turkey (and the country’s second largest overall), has placed an order for 36 Airbus A321neo aircraft.

This is a new order, adding to one in place since 2012, when Pegasus switched to Airbus from Boeing. The original 100-aircraft order was later modified in 2017, 2021 and then again in 2022, increasing the total order to 114 aircraft.

With these 36 additional A321neos, Pegasus will reach a fleet of 150 aircraft by 2029, of which 108 will be A321neos, operated by the airline with a 239-seat cabin.

Back in March this year, Pegasus announced strong financial results for the year 2022 on the back of a strong growth in air traffic. The airline saw its passenger numbers increase by 33.7%, to 26.9 million, while its revenue more than doubled (+139%) to €2.45 billion and €431 million in profit.

Shortly after, this performance was reflected in rating agencies Fitch and S&P upgrading Pegasus’ credit ratings from B+ to BB- and B to B+ respectively.
