Pittsburgh envisions airport for post-pandemic world

Work on a new $1.4 billion, 700,000-square-foot terminal at Pittsburgh International Airport will involve crushing concrete from existing airfield ramps and reusing it as a sub-base material for new roads. The sustainability efforts contribute to airport officials’ goal to attain “LEED Silver” certification or higher for the new terminal, which they hope to open in 2025.
