Ponant Announces New French Polynesia Cruises Aboard Le Jacques Cartier for 2026-2027
Ponant, a leader in luxury expeditions at sea, is set to expand its offerings in French Polynesia with the introduction of new cruises aboard the 184-guest Le Jacques Cartier, starting from September 2026 through March 2027. The ship will embark on a novel 14-day itinerary that promises to showcase the region’s stunning landscapes and vibrant cultures, with further details about the sailing to be released in the coming months.
Hervé Gastinel, the CEO of Ponant, expressed his enthusiasm for the new itinerary, noting, “French Polynesia is a very popular destination with our guests. We aim to offer them a diverse array of itineraries and experiences that align with our core values: operating small French-flagged ships that respect the territories we visit while minimizing our environmental impact, all delivered with Ponant’s signature refined and exclusive service.”
This new offering aboard Le Jacques Cartier complements Ponant’s existing presence in the region through its subsidiary, Paul Gauguin Cruises. The m/s Paul Gauguin has been sailing in French Polynesia year-round for over 25 years, gaining recognition for its destination expertise and the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere it offers guests.
“With Le Jacques Cartier, we are introducing a complementary option that merges our extensive knowledge of the region with the unique Ponant DNA,” Gastinel explained. “This vessel will offer an expedition cruise format, enabling guests to engage directly with nature and local populations, enriched by the distinctive ‘French touch’ that characterizes our brand.”
The introduction of Le Jacques Cartier to French Polynesia represents Ponant’s continued commitment to providing immersive and environmentally conscious cruise experiences in some of the world’s most breathtaking and delicate ecosystems.
