Some Hight Speed Rail Service Between Italy and France Suspended Until Summer 2024

The suspension of high-speed trains between Italy and France is a significant issue impacting transportation, tourism, and trade sectors in both countries. According to web search results, the primary cause of this disruption is a landslide that occurred in the French Savoy region in August 2023, damaging the rail tracks and the motorway between Modane and Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne. Unfortunately, the restoration work on this historic line has proven to be more complex than expected and has yet to commence.

Furthermore, the suspension has disrupted travel plans for many passengers who rely on the high-speed TGV and Frecciarossa trains connecting Paris, Lyon, Turin, and Milan. These trains provide a fast and comfortable way to traverse the Alps while enjoying scenic mountain views.
