A 3% tax on hotel rooms and short-term rentals became law in Oahu on Tuesday with Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi’s signature. Rail transit eventually will receive half the revenues from the tax, enacted after the state ended local distribution of the 10.25% state hotel tax.
