Regional carrier buys training planes for new pilots

Mesa Airlines, which operates regional flights for United Airlines and American Airlines, has bought a fleet of small planes and will give loans to newly minted pilots that they can use to pay for flight time on those aircraft that will qualify them to work at Mesa. “I really believe this will crack open the nut in terms of all these pilots out there trying to build time,” said CEO Jonathan Ornstein.
