Relief fund aims to bring racial parity to farming

The American Rescue Plan includes $4 billion earmarked to assist marginalized farmers from the Black, Native American, Hispanic and Asian communities with debt relief, and $1.01 billion to create a racial equity commission. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack recognizes the history of racism and discrimination that has plagued the industry and underscores the importance of working towards “great diversity in American agriculture.”
