Royal Caribbean Announces New Vice President of Entertainment, Christine Coachman
Royal Caribbean International has appointed Christine Coachman as the new Vice President of Entertainment, succeeding Nick Weir who has stepped down after a decade of service. The transition marks a significant leadership change within the Entertainment division of the world-renowned cruise line.
Nick Weir, known for his innovative contributions to Royal Caribbean’s entertainment offerings, leaves behind a legacy of original productions and technological advancements in the cruise industry. During his tenure, Weir was instrumental in developing standout shows like Columbus the Musical, Effectors, Flight, and Aqua 80s. He also contributed to the enhancement of maritime safety with the eMuster process and introduced the Water-based Pyrotechnic Illusion, showcasing his commitment to combining safety with entertainment.
Weir’s recent work includes the entertainment setup on Royal Caribbean’s newest megaship, Icon of the Seas, which features a variety of new shows and venues, encapsulating his vision for a dynamic and immersive guest experience.
Stepping into this pivotal role, Christine Coachman brings nearly 35 years of experience at Royal Caribbean to the table. Starting her career as a dancer and performer, Coachman has steadily risen through the ranks, showcasing her versatility and commitment to the entertainment sector. Her responsibilities have spanned writing, casting, and producing numerous productions, managing both front and back-of-house operations, and overseeing Royal Caribbean’s extensive Entertainment Studios in North Miami.
Sean Treacy, Senior Vice President of Hotel Operations at Royal Caribbean, expressed his enthusiasm about Coachman’s appointment, stating, “Drawing from nearly 35 years of experience at Royal Caribbean, Christi will now lead the team responsible for bringing to life the best entertainment at sea. She will oversee the cruise line’s onboard entertainment and guest activities programming, as well as Royal Caribbean Productions, the industry’s only in-house department that creates, produces and manages the largest entertainment operation at sea.”
Treacy further highlighted his confidence in Coachman’s leadership, adding, “I am excited to work even more closely with Christi as we continue to lead the industry in innovating the entertainment experience at sea.”
