Azimuth (A4, Rostov Platov) has formalised longstanding plans to expand its fleet following the signing of commitments for the A220 and SuperJet during the ongoing MAKS 2021 International Aviation and Space Salon in Moscow.

The carrier, which counts the regional government of Rostov Oblast in south-western Russia as a 25% + 1 share equity-holder, has secured six A220-300s from Air Lease Corporation with deliveries to run from mid-2022 through to 2024.

Director-General Pavel Ekzhanov said during a press conference the Airbus jets would be configured in a single-class cabin layout with 148 seats. They will be deployed on flights from its home airports (Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, and Mineralnye Vody) to destinations in Siberia, as well as the CIS, Europe, and the Middle East.

According to the ch-aviation fleets advanced module, Azimuth also has three A220-300s due from Ilyushin Finance. It also operates fourteen SuperJets; six SSJ 100/95Bs and eight SSJ 100/95LRs. During the MAKS salon, Azimuth signed a letter of intent with Irkut to add ten more SuperJets on lease. Pending the finalisation of lease financing, the jets should deliver through 2026.

Aside from domestic Russian flights, Azimuth also serves Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, and Turkey.
