San Francisco mayor, supervisor heed Japantown pleas

San Francisco County Supervisor Dean Preston has joined community opposition to the city’s plan to buy a luxury hotel in the Japantown neighborhood for conversion to supportive housing for the homeless. Mayor London Breed, meanwhile, has called for a time-out on the Kimpton Buchanan Hotel purchase while concerns about impact on the area’s history and character are heard.
