SAS Scandinavian starts A321LR long-haul route from Aalborg, Denmark to Newark
SAS Scandinavian has introduced a new long-haul route from Aalborg, Denmark, to Newark. This 3,729-mile (6,001 km) nonstop flight is served thrice weekly using SAS’ single-isle A321LRs.
SAS has also launched a second new route from Gothenburg to Newark, and recently relaunched flights to JFK after more than 30 years. The A321LRs, which have a seating capacity of 157, allow for such creative thinking.
- Gothenburg-Newark: SK917, 18:30-21:05, Wednesdays, Fridays, Sundays
- Newark-Gothenburg: SK918, 23:30-13:15+1, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays
The flights will serve the whole of Denmark’s Jutland region, with a population exceeding two million. Better-served Billund, Denmark’s second-busiest airport, lost out to Aalborg for Newark flights.
- Aalborg-Newark: SK921, 18:35-21:05, Mondays, Thursdays, Saturdays
- Newark-Aalborg: SK922, 23:30-13:05+1, Wednesdays, Fridays, Sundays
SAS will focus on point-to-point demand and one-stop options via its Copenhagen and Oslo hubs. The A321LRs start and end in Copenhagen, following an unusual route that includes Aalborg and Gothenburg.
