A Saudia Airlines jet comes under fire in Sudan

Khartoum, Sudan

Well, you don’t see this every day, at least not in the United States.

A Saudia Airlines jet, part of that country’s state-run airline, came under gunfire on Saturday shortly after, landing in the city of Khartoum, Sudan.

The crew is being hailed for getting the pilots, flight attendants and staff safely from the tarmac to the Saudi Arabian Embassy.

The gunfire appears to be part of the violence associated with friction between a paramilitary group and Sudan’s armed forces.

The Saudi Arabian airline has suspended all flights to Sudan until further notice. It is unknown if the airport has shut down in Khartoum or if officials felt this was an isolated incident in the African nation.
