Saudi Arabian Airlines and Panasonic Avionics Sign Agreement to Install Astrova on up to 30 Aircraft

SAUDIA, the national flag carrier of Saudi Arabia, has partnered with Panasonic Avionics to enhance its in-flight entertainment and communication systems (IFEC) through the installation of Astrova. This state-of-the-art technology will allow SAUDIA to engage with its guests in a more immersive and personalized manner.

Under the agreement, SAUDIA will retrofit Astrova on 30 of its wide-body aircraft, including 12 Airbus A330s and 18 Boeing 777s. Passengers will enjoy an enhanced viewing experience with 4K OLED screens and top-quality audio, powered by Panasonic Avionics’ latest Bluetooth technology.

In addition, every seat will be equipped with USB-C outlets, providing up to 100W of direct current power. This enables fast charging for various devices, including smartphones, tablets, and the majority of laptops used worldwide.

SAUDIA will optimize the cabin environment with Panasonic Avionics’ programmable LED lighting, enhancing the overall guest experience. The lighting can be adjusted to create different atmospheres, adding to the ambiance and comfort of the aircraft.

Furthermore, Panasonic Avionics is collaborating with SAUDIA to develop in-flight entertainment maintenance capabilities within the Kingdom. Through its subsidiary, Saudia Aerospace Engineering Industries (SAEI), Panasonic Avionics aims to strengthen its Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services, ensuring efficient and reliable support for SAUDIA’s IFEC systems.

Director General of SAUDIA Group, His Excellency Engr. Ibrahim Al-Omar, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting SAUDIA’s commitment to enhancing the guest experience. He emphasized that the collaboration with Astrova will provide passengers with the finest in-flight entertainment features, making their journey truly memorable.

This agreement between SAUDIA and Panasonic Avionics represents a significant step forward in delivering cutting-edge IFEC technology to passengers, ensuring a more enjoyable and personalized travel experience onboard SAUDIA aircraft.
