SCOTUS upholds $2M in online booking firms’ court costs

The US Supreme Court has unanimously upheld a decision that more than 170 Texas municipalities must pay more than $2 million in court costs for online booking companies in a dispute over hotel occupancy taxes. The original $20.5 million verdict in favor of the municipalities was later overturned, and the Supreme Court resolved an appellate-level split.
