Short-term rentals said to outstrip apartments in NYC

The number of active short-term rentals in New York City has reached more than 13,000, according to AirDNA, higher than the apartment inventory of 7,500 units recorded in Manhattan, Brooklyn and part of Queens. Critics have argued that short-term rentals drive up housing costs, while an Airbnb spokesperson said that “the data provides an unfairly narrow look at rental unit availability.”
