In a public meeting held by the Department of the Interior Bureau of Indian Affairs, members of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde spoke out against the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians’ proposal to build a casino-hotel in North Salem, Ore., saying that it would create direct competition to Grand Ronde’s Spirit Mountain Casino. Siletz tribal members countered the opposition and noted, “We intend to share revenue of the property with all Oregon Tribes.”
