Singapore to Provide NDC Content Through Aeronology Connection

Singapore Airlines has joined Melbourne-based Aeronology’s travel distribution platform, providing its New Distribution Capability inventory to Aeronology’s NDC Direct Connect technology.

The connection enables travel sellers to search, book and service Singapore’s NDC content alongside traditional global distribution system content on a single screen. Aeronology also will provide content from Scoot, Singapore’s low-cost carrier subsidiary, through its portal.

Aeronology launched in late 2019 and was certified by the International Air Transport Association as a Level 4 NDC aggregator in June. It has secured contracts with the three major GDS providers—Sabre, Travelport and Amadeus—as well as China’s TravelSky, and Qantas this month joined as its first NDC Direct airline partner.

The platform’s revenue comes from a per-transaction fee rather than licensing fees.

“Small ticketing costs is how we make money, and we lay NDC on top of it,” co-founder Russell Carstensen told BTN. “We can embed it into systems so they can process both the GDS and NDC content.”

Agency partners signed up with Aeronology so far include Hong Kong-based Connexus Travel, which focuses on corporate business, and Express Travel Group, which focuses largely on leisure travel in Australia and New Zealand, Carstensen said.
