Changi Airport Group (CAG) has successfully completed a 3.5-year renovation and expansion project for Terminal 2 (T2) at Singapore Changi Airport, significantly improving its capacity and passenger services.

The upgrade has increased T2’s annual passenger handling capacity by 5 million to a total of 28 million passengers, contributing to Changi Airport’s overall annual capacity of 90 million travelers across its four terminals.

The revamped T2 features a new Fast (Fast and Seamless Travel) zone, equipped with additional automated check-in kiosks and bag-drop machines, along with expanded immigration halls featuring more automated lanes for increased efficiency. Notably, the terminal has adopted environmentally conscious measures, including a new chiller plant that reduces energy consumption by 30% and a fully automated early luggage storage system that enhances security and efficiency.

The design concept for T2 draws inspiration from nature, incorporating organic shapes, textures, lush greenery, and water features. The terminal also boasts an upgraded retail and dining area with over 40 outlets offering a diverse range of local and international cuisines and brands.

The reopening of T2 marks a significant milestone for Changi Airport as it gradually returns to full four-terminal operations following the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. CAG’s CEO, Lee Seow Hiang, emphasized that the T2 revamp aligns with their long-term vision to position Changi as a leading global air hub.

Changi Airport continues to adapt and enhance its facilities to meet the evolving needs of travelers and maintain its reputation as one of the world’s top airports.
