According to latest figures collected by The ANKER Report (www.anker-report.com), Sochi/Adler is now one of Europe’s top 10 busiest airports. In February, the airport handled 579,576 passengers (up 39% on January 2019) ranking it 10th in Europe, behind three airports in Moscow, two in Istanbul and St. Petersburg, Paris CDG, Madrid and Frankfurt, but ahead of London Heathrow, Amsterdam and Paris Orly.

There are two factors indicate the airport’s congestion – passenger traffic and the number of flights. Sochi Airport has a positive upward trend in both indicators. For example in February, passenger traffic amounted to 582,000 people. This is 24% more than in the same month of 2020. The number of flights in the last month of winter exceeded 2 thousand operations, which is 12% more than in the same period last year.

Sochi invariably attracts great interest from tourists during the winter months. The opportunity to engage in ski sports, the warm climate, walks in protected areas where mimosa and magnolia are already in full bloom, as well as other outdoor activities attract people from all over the country.

The most popular routes for domestic destinations for several months remain Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, and Novosibirsk.
