Software to cut taxi times, emissions at major US airports

The Federal Aviation Administration is deploying new software developed by NASA that will reduce the time planes spend on taxiways, which will save an estimated 7 million gallons of fuel per year and decrease passenger wait times. The software was tested in Charlotte, N.C. and will be rolled out at 27 of the busiest US airports in coming years.
