Bosses who advocate for employees and use creative ways to point out inequalities are not only doing the right thing but also improve retention, says James Detert of the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. “If you think people don’t notice your inaction or aren’t bothered because they know it’s really hard to do these things, the data suggest you should think again,” says Detert.
