Study finds pre-departure testing significantly reduces risk

A study conducted by the Mayo Clinic, Georgia Department of Health and Delta Air Lines determined that pre-departure testing significantly reduced the rate of infection onboard transatlantic flights, demonstrating that international travel could safely resume with appropriate testing, masking and disinfection protocols. “This real-world data, not simulation models, is what governments around the world can use as a blueprint for requiring vaccinations and testing instead of quarantines to re-open borders for international travel,” said Dr. Henry Ting, Delta’s chief health officer. “There’s so many other activities you could do like going to the grocery store, church or a restaurant where your risk of infection is way higher than flying,” he added.
